EDMONTON, Feb. 8 /CNW Telbec/ - Today marks the launch of author and
RVing veteran Joan van Dolder's book, RVing with Kids Twelve Months a Year:
The How-To Book of Family RVing, coinciding with the opening of the
27th Annual Edmonton RV Show.
Van Dolder, who is a mother of four from Edmonton, said she wrote the
book to help other Canadians discover the great benefits associated with
"My family and I have made great memories RVing," said van Dolder, "and
by writing this book, I wanted to give other families the necessary tools to
take part in such a wonderful experience."
RVing with Kids Twelve Months a Year features a complete RV vacation
packing list, tips on RVing in different temperatures including in the winter
months, as well as over 100 activities for kids while on an RV trip.
According to dealers, young families are contributing to the trend of the
rise in RV sales throughout Canada.
"Some people may be surprised to hear that 67% of RV owners are under the
age of 55," said Go RVing Public Affairs Director Catherine Fortin LeFaivre,
who was quoting results from a recent survey conducted by MRP Market Research
Inc. "The truth is, RVing is an activity that crosses all demographics and
socio-economic classes. For families with kids, it's especially appealing that
you can just get up and go, while bringing all the toys with you."
The RV industry is now valued at $3 billion and according to Statistics
Canada figures, summer RV sales from 2005 to 2007 jumped 55% in Canada.
The Edmonton RV Show is expected to be one of the biggest of the year,
with 94 exhibitors, hundreds of RVs on display and an expected
26,000 attendees. Alberta drove the market last year, representing 29% of all
RV sales across Canada.
The 27th Annual Edmonton RV Show and Sale runs until Sunday, February 10
and is being held at the Northlands Park Agricom & Sportex.
