LAVAL, QC, Oct. 1 /CNW Telbec/ - RTI Claro, a key supplier to the
aeronautical and aerospace industry, today held the official opening of its
new, state-of-the-art facilities in Laval's Highway 25 industrial park.
Setting up these facilities, which represents an investment of more than
$43 million, has resulted in the creation of some 80 new positions.
More than 200 guests attended the inauguration, including the Québec
Minister of Economic Development, Innovation and Export Trade, Minister of
Tourism and Minister Responsible for the Montreal Region, Raymond Bachand and
the Mayor of Laval, Gilles Vaillancourt. RTI International Metals, RTI Claro's
parent company, was represented by Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer,
Dawne Hickton, and President and Chief Operating Officer, Michael Wellham.
RTI Claro General Manager in Laval, William S. Thompson, was anxious to
underline the cooperation the company received from various organizations and
their representatives in carrying out this major undertaking.
"The support provided by the Ministry of Economic Development, Innovation
and Export Trade, Investissement Québec, the City of Laval and Laval
Technopole has enabled us to arrive at this historic juncture for our
company," declared Mr. Thompson. "Our coming here is a reflection of the
dynamic environment in which we have established ourselves and places us in a
strategic location close to major highways and airport infrastructure."
The new facility totals 149,000 square feet in size. Each of its four
areas-office, plant, chemical processing and quality control-is equipped with
a sophisticated air quality control system designed for this type of work.
A leader in the manufacture and assembly of titanium and aluminum
structural components, RTI Claro supplies equipment elements for Bombardier
aircraft, Bell Helicopter Textron's major helicopter models and Boeing's
