HALIFAX, Jan. 29 /CNW/ - Royal Roads Corp. (RRO-TSX-V) ("Royal Roads") is
pleased to announce results from the last eleven drill holes of its seventy
three hole Phase II drill program on the Daniels Pond deposit. These eleven
drill holes (DN-07-113 to 123), representing 2,247 metres of the total
13,175 metre program, include 5 infill holes which confirmed grade and
continuity of mineralization in the Southwest Lobe. Highlights include
12.02 metres of 5.37% zinc, 2.83% lead, 0.38% copper, 100.4 g/t silver, and
1.98 g/t gold; including 3.17 metres of 8.00% zinc, 4.15% lead, 0.60% copper,
90.8 g/t silver, and 5.20 g/t gold. Two out of the remaining six holes,
designed to test for mineralized extensions to the Southwest Lobe,
successfully identified significant mineralization. The results of both the
infill and exploration holes are summarized in tables 1 and 2 below.
These results provide the remaining data required to proceed with
compiling a new National Instrument 43-101 (N-43-101) compliant resource
estimate. The revised estimate will include resources assigned to the greater
confidence "Indicated" category as well as a new estimate of Inferred
resources. The estimate is being completed by independent consultants,
Mercator Geological Services of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, under the supervision
of Qualified Person, Peter Webster P.Geo.

    Infill Drill Results
    --------------------

Holes DN-113 and DN-115 to DN-118 confirm continuity and grade of
mineralization within the deposit's Southwest Lobe. Assay highlights from
these holes are presented in Table 1 below. Some of the more noteworthy
intersections include hole DN-113 which returned assays averaging 5.37% Zn,
2.83% Pb, 0.38% Cu, 100.4 g/t Ag and 1.98 g/t Au over an estimated true width
of 12.02 metres, including 3.17 metres assaying 8.00% Zn, 4.15% Pb, 0.60% Cu,
90.8 g/t Ag and 5.20 g/t Au. The high gold value in this drill hole is
atypical for the deposit and although our QAQC protocols have been met,
additional check assays have been requested to confirm the accuracy of this
assay. Additional noteworthy assays were returned from this lower central
portion of the Southwest Lobe at depths ranging between 100 and 150 metres
below surface. These intersections include mineralization in holes DN-116 and
DN-118 (assays highlighted below), which support plans for ongoing deep
exploration drilling at Daniels Pond. Among the other highlights from this
round of results are several intersections from shallow depths returned in
hole DN-115 including assays averaging 9.94% Zn, 5.10% Pb, 0.39% Cu, 253.4 g/t
Ag and 0.70 g/t Au over an estimated true width of 2.17 metres.

    Extension Exploration Drill Results
    -----------------------------------

Holes DN-114 and DN-119 to DN-123 were positioned to explore for possible
extensions to the Southwest Lobe and succeeded in identifying significant
mineralization in holes DN-121 located on the far southwest edge of the
Southwest Lobe and hole DN-123 located on the lower under-belly of the
Southwest Lobe. The results of these 6 extension exploration holes are
summarized in Table 2 below:

    Management's Comment
    --------------------

Warren MacLeod, President of Royal Roads stated that "We are pleased with
these results and look forward to updating the National Instrument 43-101
report and completing further deep exploration drilling beneath the deposit.
In addition to ongoing work at Daniels Pond, we have completed a full
compilation of previous work done on the expansive Tulks North property and
will begin exploring for possible new discoveries up and down trend of Daniels
Pond."
With completion of the Phase II program, Royal Roads has completed in
excess of 13,175 metres of drilling in 73 drill holes at Daniels Pond and
together with drilling completed at the Parking Lot prospect (news release
dated November 28, 2007) Royal Roads drilled in excess of 14,000 m in 77 holes
on its Tulks North property in 2007. Royal Roads expects to continue its
aggressive exploration of the Daniels Pond deposit in 2008, with attention to
be focused on discovery of additional lenses of high grade massive sulphides
at depth and along strike of the know deposit. This work began in early
January with the beginning of a 3,000 metre winter drill program initially
testing deeper targets beneath the Daniels Pond deposit. The company also
intends to broaden its drilling efforts within its expansive 182 square
kilometre Tulks North property by drilling other priority targets located
elsewhere on the property in 2008.

    Daniels Pond Resource
    ---------------------

The Daniels Pond deposit is currently estimated to host a
NI-43-101-compliant Inferred Resource at a 2% Zn cut-off of 1.69 million
tonnes grading 8.37% zinc, 4.4% lead, 0.57% copper, 196.9 g/t silver and 0.68
g/t gold (Royal Roads news release dated November 7, 2006). The bulk of these
resources occur within 150 metres of surface in two lobes of mineralization,
the weaker mineralized Northeast Lobe and the stronger mineralized Southwest
Lobe respectively. These lobes dip steeply to the northeast and have a
combined strike length of 1,100 metres. Potential to expand resources at the
Daniels Pond exist both at depth and along strike of both lobes.

    Other Drilling
    --------------

Elsewhere on the property, Royal Roads is planning to undertake a
1,500 metre, drilling program to test the Daniels Pond Extension prospect
located 7 kilometres to the northeast along strike of the Daniels Pond
deposit. This program was originally planned for the fall of 2007, but was
postponed as winter conditions allow better access to the target area. Details
of the program were previously announced in a news release dated August 21,
2007. The program is now expected to begin in early February.

    Qualified Person & Sampling Procedure
    -------------------------------------

The drill program is being managed by Mercator Geological Services
Limited of Dartmouth Nova Scotia under the direction of Peter Webster, P.Geo.,
(NL). Drill intercepts quoted are core lengths and estimated true widths have
also been calculated where possible, using observed contacts in drill core.
Logging, sampling and assaying procedures are being completed as per Royal
Roads QA/QC protocols as described in Royal Roads press release dated
February 27th, 2007. Paul Moore, M.Sc., P.Geo., (NL), Royal Road's Vice
President of Exploration, is acting as Qualified Person in compliance with
National Instrument 43-101 with respect to this release and has reviewed the
contents for accuracy.
