Come and see a collection of the world's coins and bank notes
WINNIPEG, June 8 /CNW Telbec/ - The Royal Canadian Mint (RCM) will host
the 2nd Annual Manitoba Spring Coin Show at its facility in Winnipeg at 520
Lagimodière Blvd. This year's event will be held from June 9-10, 2007, from
10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
With over 30 coin dealers from across Canada, visitors will have the
opportunity to see a wide variety of Canadian and world coins as well as bank
notes that range from ancient gold and silver coins that were once used by the
Greeks and Romans to current innovative coins and bank notes. While many of
these coins will be available for purchase, we also welcome you to bring and
exchange a few coins from your very own collection.
"When selecting a venue for our event, the Royal Canadian Mint was an
easy choice," says Brian Gibson, President, Manitoba Coin Club. "Our dealers
can teach visitors about the history of coins, while the Royal Canadian Mint
can show them how they're made."
All visitors are welcome and will receive complimentary admission to the
show and enjoy a tour of the RCM and interactive coin museum. The museum
offers the opportunity to hold a 28 lbs, 99.99% pure gold ingot worth over
$300,000 and to participate in various educational coin collecting programs.
On June 9th, RCM Senior Engraver Christie Paquet will make a special
appearance at the museum.
