ROI Capital doubles its assets in less than one year

TORONTO, March 28 /CNW/ - For the 5th consecutive RSP selling season, ROI
Capital has more than doubled assets under management. With more than
$100 million raised in the 2006/07 RSP season, ROI Capital now has
$215 million in assets under management, and continues to grow rapidly month
over month.
ROI stands for Return on Innovation, and reflects a commitment to bring
innovative financial products and services to Canadian investors. ROI's
specialty is a conservative form of private placements called mezzanine
financing. ROI Mezzanine Financing involves lending money to established
private companies. These loans are fixed and provide a good stabilizer to an
investor's portfolio by avoiding the volatility that can be seen in the public
equity markets and interest rate volatility in the bond markets.
ROI first brought mezzanine financing to the retail market in 2002 with
the ROI Fund. With over $140 million in assets, the ROI Fund is Canada's
largest retail mezzanine fund. Building on the success of the ROI Fund, ROI
introduced in 2006 two new mutual funds: The ROI Sceptre Canadian Pension
Fund, and the ROI Global Pension Fund. These funds invest like pension funds
as they combine ROI private placements, which are uncorrelated to the public
markets, with a balanced investment mandate managed by some of the world's
leading pension fund managers.
"ROI has built a reputation for delivering innovative products that
fulfill an unmet need in the marketplace," said Fernando Cipriano, President
of ROI Capital. "Our new funds offer a solution to Canadians that mirror the
investment strategy of a pension fund, while the ROI Fund is a stable and
reliable investment with a 30% tax credit."
"Pension funds need to invest in a wide range of asset classes in order
to produce cash flow all of the time," said Wilfred Vos, Senior Vice-President
of ROI. "As a result, pension funds are highly diversified across different
segments of the investment market, including private placements. They are
designed to deliver both short and long-term cash flow needs by ensuring
capital appreciation, stable income, and growth potential. We believe we have
created two distinct funds that mirror the asset mix of a typical pension
fund."

The following is a breakdown of 2006/2007 ROI Capital subscriptions:

ROI Sceptre Canadian Pension Fund - $51 million
    ROI Fund - $35 million
ROI Global Pension Fund - $17 million
