Rogers Wireless' Redpipe(TM) $25,000 Recording Prize Awarded to Toronto's "musical mayhem party kids"

Down With Webster to have debut CD released by Fontana North and
Universal Music Canada with distribution through HMV Canada.

TORONTO, June 13 /CNW/ - Down With Webster, the 7-piece band with an
eclectic mix of musical styling from Toronto's Beach neighbourhood, has won
the inaugural Redpipe $25,000 Recording Prize. Sponsored by Rogers Wireless,
the contest was announced at this year's Canadian Music Week and attracted
more than 115 bands from across Canada to compete for the title of "Canada's
Best Unsigned Artist". Indie fans from coast-to-coast cast more than 330,000
votes for their favourite artists at Redpipe.ca over a six-week voting period.
"Rogers Wireless is thrilled to announce the winner of the inaugural
Redpipe $25,000 Recording Prize," said John Boynton, SVP and Chief Marketing
Officer, Rogers Wireless. "As a company with a strong focus on delivering the
best in mobile music content to our customers, we are also committed to
developing indie music in Canada. Rogers Wireless congratulates Down With
Webster on winning this prize."
Through their mix of pop, rock & hip-hop, Down With Webster has developed
a strong following in the GTA, partly due to their unique "huge party on
stage" style live shows. As this year's winners, the band will receive:

    - $5,000 in cash
    - $20,000 recording fund held by Fontana North and Universal Music
Canada to be used towards recording, marketing and tour support costs
in connection with their debut record
    - A&R, marketing and promotional support from Universal Music Canada
    - CD distribution through Universal Music Canada and HMV Canada

"We're thrilled to be working with this amazing act in this new
partnership with Rogers Wireless. Down With Webster has a refreshing and
infectious sound, and we, along with Universal Music Canada couldn't be
prouder to make them our inaugural contest winner," said Matt Smallwood,
General Manager, Fontana North.
Down With Webster can be seen at this year's Rogers Wireless North by
Northeast festival, or you can check them out at www.downwithwebster.com.
