Montreal Canadiens and Buffalo Sabres to play at local arena, community
receives $100,000 towards arena upgrades
TORONTO, April 9 /CNW/ - The votes are in and Canada has spoken!
Roberval, Quebec, has been selected as the most spirited hockey community
north of the 49th parallel and the winner of KRAFT HOCKEYVILLE 2008. Canadians
have watched in anticipation as the top five communities were revealed each
week on CBC's HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA. Now Roberval can enjoy the title as the
third KRAFT HOCKEYVILLE victor, joining previous winners Salmon River, NS and
North Bay, ON.
As part of the KRAFT HOCKEYVILLE 2008 Grand Prize, Roberval will play
host to the Montreal Canadiens and the Buffalo Sabres for a 2008/2009
pre-season NHL game on Tuesday, September 23. The game will be broadcast on
CBC during a one hour Kraft Hockeyville special on September 27(*). Roberval
also receives $100,000 towards arena upgrades from Kraft Canada. The four
runner-up communities Port aux Basques, NL, Kingsville, ON, Wilcox, SK, Pilot
Mound, MN, also receive $20,000 towards arena upgrades from Kraft.

competition is having the community unite around their common love of hockey

KRAFT HOCKEYVILLE 2008 started out as a national search for Canada's most
spirited hockey town. Communities from coast-to-coast-to-coast were invited to
submit a short essay with three supporting photos that depicted their hometown
pride and passion for the game. Eventually the communities of Roberval, QC,
Port aux Basques, NL, Kingsville, ON, Wilcox, SK, and Pilot Mound, MB, were
selected as the top five communities. Their submissions were revealed over
five consecutive weeks on CBC's HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA.
Kraft Canada, CBC, the National Hockey League (NHL), and the National
Hockey League Players' Association (NHLPA) first launched KRAFT HOCKEYVILLE in
2006 and look forward to the 2009 edition of the program.
