Robert Youden elected Chair of the Board of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce

ST-JOHN'S, Sept. 20, 2011 /CNW/ - Robert Youden, Partner, Savarin Consulting from Quispamsis, New Brunswick, was elected volunteer Chair of the Board of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce for 2011-2012 at its Annual General Meeting in St-John's today (biography attached).

Biography

Robert P. Youden (Bob)
Chair of the Board of Directors

Mr. Youden is a partner in the newly created Savarin Consulting Limited, a consulting and holding company for his business interests. Savarin will invest in Atlantic Canadian companies and help the current owners through succession, as well as providing management advice to its clients. Mr. Youden was the Chief Executive of Jacques Whitford, a consulting leader in environmental, engineering, scientific and planning disciplines with special focus on challenges in the natural and built environments. Jacques Whitford had more than 1800 colleagues in 45 offices across Canada, the United States as well as several internationally. During his tenure the company doubled in size, improved its profitability, migrated to an external Board of Directors and adopted a public company governance model.

As Chief Executive, Mr. Youden was a member of the company's Board of Directors, which includes a number of distinguished business leaders drawn from leading corporations throughout North America. He also sat on the Boards of Fugro-Jacques and EMI- Jacques. Mr. Youden led the sale of Jacques Whitford to Stantec in January of 2008. With Stantec he was responsible for all Stantec operations in Ontario and the East. He has completed the integration of Jacques Whitford into the Stantec operation and has completed his term as part of an orderly and planned succession.

Mr. Youden joined Jacques Whitford in 2002 after 17 years with J.D. Irving Limited where he held a number of senior positions. Most recently he was Vice President,Transportation where he was responsible for six operating companies. Earlier with J.D. Irving, he held senior management roles in Irving Pulp and Paper and other Irving subsidiaries, including serving in Treasury for J.D. Irving Limited. Earlier in his career, Mr. Youden served in a variety of positions with a number of Atlantic Canada
Companies. Mr. Youden is actively involved in external business organizations, he sits as Chair of the a Board for the Canadian Chamber of Commerce since September of 2011. He has also served on the Selection Committee for the Canadian CFO of the Year Award. He has previously served on a number of national and regional advisory bodies, including the National Marine Advisory Board of the Canadian Coastguard and the Protection Mutual Insurance Business Advisory Board. Mr. Youden serves on the Boards of NB Power, PollyCello and the advisory Boards of Moosehead Breweries and Enovex. Mr. Youden was born in Toronto, Ontario and was raised in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.

Mr. Youden holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Dalhousie University and was a member of the New Brunswick Institute of Chartered Accountants.

Mr. Youden and his wife Wendy reside in Quispamsis, New Brunswick.
