Richfield releases preliminary drill results at Quesnel Trough G-South target

QUESNEL, BC, Sept. 29 /CNW/ - Peter Bernier, President and CEO of
Richfield Ventures Corp. (TSX-V:RVC) is pleased to provide an update on
results from drilling undertaken in early summer at its G-South gold prospect,
which forms part of the 80,000 hectare Quesnel Trough Property, located east
of Quesnel, B.C. Canada.
Richfield completed an initial drill program consisting of four diamond
drill holes totaling 1818 meters. Drilling of the G-South property aimed to
test for mineralization associated with gold-bearing massive sulphide veins
reported in past work. The G-South prospect has a number of narrow,
discontinuous (1 to 2 m wide) massive sulphide veins with gold values to 1.5
oz/ton and base metal values. Geological logging of the 4 new holes indicate
that all cut a sequence of augite basalt and augite basalt breccia, as well as
encountering several narrow massive sulphide veins. Drill core from the four
holes was analyzed for its base metal content by portable XRF analyzer as the
drilling progressed. Analyses were made every 10 cm along the core. Immediate
analysis allowed more responsive planning for subsequent holes than standard
sampling and waiting for lab assay results. Interesting values of copper, and
zinc were noted where the sulphide veins were intersected.
Sections with significant base metal values as determined with the
analyzer, were sampled and sent for laboratory analysis for gold and platinum
group elements. These fire assay results have now been received from Eco-tech
Laboratories Ltd. in Kamloops and integrated with earlier data. Elevated gold
was seen in narrow sections from two holes in the new data; none are
significant. For example from one hole, GS 08-02, 216 samples of two meter
sections each were taken. Five returned values of 1 gm/t gold or higher; the
highest returned 4.62 gm/t Au.
It is encouraging that the two holes (GS 08-03 and 04) drilled southward
toward the intrusive did cut magnetic intrusives in the bottom of the hole,
but the spatial and genetic connection between the veins and this intrusive
was not established. The company is considering how best to test this
association.
