TORONTO, June 17 /CNW/ - Bloorview Kids Rehab Foundation gets another
boost from Reprodux Day at the Races on Sunday, June 22nd at Woodbine
Racetrack during the 149th running of the Queen's Plate. Bloorview, Canada's
largest teaching hospital for pediatric rehabilitation, is a world leader in
medical care, research, and education for children with disabilities.
Reprodux Vice-President, Kim Long, is the mother of a remarkable
9-year-old boy, Robbie, who was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy at six months
old. Because of his disability, Robbie can not walk or write. However, whether
it's playing with friends, mastering his Nintendo Wii or scoring A's in his
mainstream math class, Robbie excels at whatever he does through the resources
and skills acquired through Bloorview.
Bloorview is a provincial facility that sees close to 7,000 children and
youth on an outpatient basis, and has over 650 inpatient admissions each year.
This represents 52,000 visits using the hospital, outpatient, and community
services each year from all over Ontario, across Canada and around the world.
Reprodux Day at the Races will be an afternoon of live horse racing,
gourmet food, entertainment and silent auction. Corporate sponsors, BDO
Dunwoody, Standard Life, Oce Canada, Central Graphics, Motion Specialties,
Sunrise Medical and presenting sponsor Xerox Canada have provided overwhelming
support to the event so far. "We are proud to be a part of this amazing event,
raising money for such a good cause two years in a row now," says Rebekah
Fougere, Director of Sales at Xerox. This year's event is expected to raise
over $70,000.00, bringing the two year total to over $120,000.00 raised for
Bloorview Kids Rehab.
