MONTREAL, June 6 /CNW Telbec/ - As part of the 400th anniversary of
Quebec City and the General Assembly of the Canadian Religious Conference,
1,200 men and women religious will gather in pilgrimage at the Basilica of
Saint Anne de Beaupré, on June 7, to give thanks and to celebrate their joy
and hope for the future of religious life.
At 5:15 p.m. Cardinal Marc Ouellet will preside at Vespers and
internationally renowned author and speaker Timothy Radcliffe, OP, will
deliver the homily. This celebration is being prepared by young religious
under the coordination of Rick Van Lier, OP. The celebration will end with the
unveiling of a plaque and the planting of a tree as a symbol of four centuries
of history marking the social contributions of men and women religious. The
pilgrims will then share some light refreshments before returning home.
Meeting for the media: You are cordially invited to come and meet CRC
President Donna Geernaert, SC; Vice-President Yvon Pomerleau, OP, and General
Assembly presenter Timothy Radcliffe, OP. They will briefly speak about the
theme of the General Assembly: Remembering for the Future. Then, they will be
