Reaching New Heights for "Women of Courage" on Mt. Kilimanjaro

TORONTO, Dec. 15, 2011 /CNW/ - From January 8th to 19th, 2012, a team of 13 climbers from across Canada, ages 17 to 67 years, will join Outward Bound Canada's Mt. Kilimanjaro fundraising climb to support Outward Bound's Women of Courage expedition - a transformative wilderness experience for women survivors of violence.  Two climbers are alumni of the Women of Courage program and four are survivors.

The team has raised $70,000 so far - surpassing their original goal of $50,000.

With support from donors like Calgary's Rimell Family Foundation, philanthropist Brett Wilson, the WaterStreet Group and corporate and individual donors, the team is raising funds for 40 women to join a Women of Courage expedition in BC, AB, or ON in 2012.

Follow the team's progress on our Expedition Blog , Twitter - @OutwardBoundCan #CourageTrek OR Facebook.

Contributions to "2012 Kilimanjaro Climb" through CanadaHelps go directly to scholarships covering program costs, participant transportation, clothing, equipment and childcare.
