RCMP Seize Counterfeit Goods from Grand Bend Retailer



    GRAND BEND, ON, Aug. 21 /CNW/ - On Thursday, August 20th, 2009 members of
the London RCMP Detachment executed a search warrant on a retail store in
Grand Bend which resulted in the seizure of several hundred items of suspected
counterfeit merchandise.
    Items involved in these seizures included ball caps, sweatshirts,
t-shirts and pants bearing various unlicensed commercial logos such as Marc
Ecko, Rocawear, Abercrombie & Fitch and various other name brands.
    It is an offence in Canada to sell and distribute merchandise bearing
unlicensed or unregistered trademarks without the permission of the trademark
owner.
    A 48 year old man, a resident of Richmond Hill, Ontario faces charges for
his alleged role in the sale and distribution of the counterfeit goods.
    "The Royal Canadian Mounted Police is committed in its efforts to combat
this type of criminal activity" stated Inspector Dwight Blok, Officer in
Charge of RCMP London Detachment.
    "Anyone with information regarding the sale and /or manufacturing of
counterfeit merchandise is asked to contact the RCMP at 1-800-387-0020 or
Crime Stoppers at 1-800-265-4444."
