RCMP busts residential grow op

LONDON, ON, Feb. 7 /CNW/ - The RCMP's Combined Forces Drug Unit busted a
marihuana grow operation yesterday at a London residence. A search of the
Meadowvale Drive home yielded a total of 363 marihuana plants warehoused in
two separate rooms. A third growing room was under construction in the
residence.
"These marihuana grow operations are of real concern to us," said
Inspector Mark Pearson, London RCMP Detachment Commander. "Not only are they a
significant source of drugs in our community, but they pose a real health
risk. Grow houses often contain mould and chemical contamination that can
affect its future occupants." Inspector Pearson also pointed out the economic
impact of these illegal operations. "These operations use a substantial amount
of electricity much of which is stolen from and ultimately paid for by
everyone who pays their hydro bill."
London RCMP has charged Trong Phuong NGUYEN (44) of London with
Production of Marihuana, Possession of Marihuana for the Purpose of
Trafficking and Theft of hydro.
