WINDSOR, ON, Sept. 17 /CNW/ - As part of a National awareness campaign
and in response to the general public's complaints of illegal tobacco being
sold at unauthorized locations, members of the Windsor Detachment Customs and
Excise Section plan a two day public awareness campaign on issues surrounding
contraband tobacco including the penalties for anyone who is caught selling
This initiative will provide business owners an opportunity to ask
questions about their concerns, as well as educating them on the laws in
regards to contraband tobacco products. Members of the RCMP will be providing
business owners with a national pamphlet provided by the Excise Branch of the
RCMP in Ottawa, which outlines the effects and consequences that the illegal
tobacco trade has on our society.
The media is invited to attend a photo opportunity on Tuesday
September 18, 2007, at 352 Ouellette Avenue, Windsor at 10:00 am.
