Rawlins Cross reunites with new album and special performance for Children's Wish fundraiser

    HALIFAX, Sept. 11 /CNW/ - After a six-year hiatus, one of Atlantic
Canada's favourite musical groups Rawlins Cross is reuniting for a
soon-to-be-released album Rawlins Cross: An Anthology (Ground Swell/Warner).
The album will include a collection of its best-loved songs plus four new
bonus tracks recorded last month at Great Big Studio in St. John's, Nfld.
"We felt we wanted to reconnect with our fans and share some new Rawlins
Cross music," says Ian McKinnon, of the award-winning band. "The new music is
certainly among the best we've ever made."
The band recorded three new original songs penned by its songwriting team
of Dave and Geoff Panting and a lively set of instrumental tunes for the
anthology CD, planned for a national release in November. Anthology will also
include fan favourites Reel 'n' Roll, Colleen, Long Night and several other
Rawlins Cross classic tunes. The band currently has up-to-date information at
www.rawlinscross.com and will be soon launching a new website.
The band will play its first reunion performance on Friday, September 19
on George's Island in Halifax Harbour, as part of Exile Island - a unique
fundraising event for The Children's Wish Foundation sponsored by
FlyHalifax.com. The event brings together 100 business leaders from across the
Maritimes to compete in a day-long event to raise money for local children
diagnosed with life threatening illnesses.
Fans of the band can win an opportunity to be part of this exclusive
concert event. Anyone donating a minimum of $50 to The Children's Wish
Foundation for Exile Island online at www.exileisland.ca will have their name
entered into a draw to win an invitation for them and a guest to George's
Island for the performance.
Members of Rawlins Cross will be available for interview in advance of
Exile Island. Members of the media are invited to George's Island to cover the
event, expected to be one of Nova Scotia's largest fundraisers ever.
