/R E P E A T/ - What's open and closed at the city of Montréal for the Fête nationale and Canada Day holidays



    MONTREAL, June 21 /CNW Telbec/ - Several city of Montréal facilities and
attractions will remain open over the Fête nationale and Canada Day holidays,
while others either will be operating on reduced schedules or closed.
    Most city of Montréal offices will be closed Monday, June 25 and July 2,
2007, including borough and Accès Montréal offices and service points.
Residents may consult borough Web sites at: ville.montreal.qc.ca.

    Garbage and recycling collections
    ---------------------------------

    Dates and times for garbage and recycling pick-ups vary with each
borough. Please consult local weeklies or service points to check the schedule
in a particular neighbourhood.

    Sports and cultural facilities
    ------------------------------

    Schedules for arenas, outdoor and indoor swimming pools, sports and
recreation centres, libraries and other cultural centres vary with each
borough. Residents should contact the offices of these facilities before
leaving home to check whether they are open.

    Science centres
    ---------------

    The Biodôme (4777, avenue Pierre De Coubertin) will be open from 9 a.m.
to 6 p.m. Information: 514 868-3000.
    The Planetarium (1000, rue Saint-Jacques) will be open both Mondays from
12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. For more information on shows and times, please

    The Botanical Garden and Insectarium (4101, rue Sherbrooke Est and
4581, rue Sherbrooke Est) also will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Information:

    Other facilities
    ----------------

    The municipal court, at 775, rue Gosford, and its service counter at
303, Notre-Dame Est will be closed. Information: 514 872-2964.
    Public markets will be open, on their regular schedules, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

    Bonsecours Market (350, rue Saint-Paul Est) will be open, 10 a.m. to
9 p.m. Information: 514 872-7730.
    The Pointe-à-Callière Museum of Archaeology and History will be open from
11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Information: 514 872-9150.
    The Claude Robillard sports centre will be open for public activities
from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Information: 514 872-6900.

    Ecocentres
    ----------

    Ecocentre Acadie will be closed. Information: 514 872-1376.
    Ecocentre de la Côte-des-Neiges will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

    Ecocentre Eadie will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Information:

    Parking
    -------

    Parking metres remain in operation for the holidays and parking
restrictions must be respected at all times.

    Please note that certain streets will be closed and parking restricted
for the Fête nationale parade and festivities on Sunday, June 24, 2007.

    PARADE PREPARATIONS
    -------------------

    FULLUM (between Marie-Anne and Sherbrooke) 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
    TERRASSE MERCURE (between Fullum and Chapleau) 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
    FRANCHERE (between Terrasse Mercure and Rachel) 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.

    FOR THE PARADE
    --------------

    SHERBROOKE (between Fullum and Pie-IX) 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

    Please note: Sherbrooke Street will be reopened to traffic gradually.

    Sherbrooke Street East, between Pie IX and Viau will be closed completely
from 2 p.m. to 2 a.m.
    Southbound lanes of Viau Street, between Rosemont and Sherbrooke, will be
closed from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m.
    Eastbound lanes of Rosemont Street, between Pie-IX and Viau will be
closed from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m.

    NO PARKING FROM 7 A.M. TO 5 P.M.
