/R E P E A T/ - Monitoring Quebec's Bridges and Overpasses - How to assess the status of our infrastructure in real time

MONTREAL, Oct. 29 /CNW Telbec/ - For the past year and a half, the
Champlain Bridge has been monitored on a round-the-clock basis using
European-based technology developed by the OSMOS Group. Some 500 major
structures throughout the world, including the Eiffel Tower, the Chunnel and
the Manhattan Bridge, are also being closely observed by this fibre-optic
system for assessing their behaviour in real time. Montreal is also an active
user of this solution (Girouard Bridge).
The media are invited to come and meet OSMOS's president, Bernard Hodac,
who will describe the technology that his group has developed. Direct hook-ups
will display the behaviour of the Champlain Bridge and another major structure
located in the United States.
