/R E P E A T/ - Media Advisory - Stephen Lewis speaks at Université de Montréal

    MONTREAL, Oct. 4 /CNW Telbec/ - Mr. Stephen Lewis, Canada's former
ambassador to the United Nations and the UN special envoy for HIV/AIDS in
Africa, will give a free public lecture addressing AIDS on October 9, 2007 at
7:00 p.m. The lecture is part of the 2nd edition of the "Franchir les
frontières" conference series, a highlight of the "Mois des diplômés de
l'UdeM".
The lecture Le sida : urgence planétaire et stratégie d'action aims to
inform the general public on the global reach and consequences of this
modern-day plague. We currently have access to cutting edge medical
treatments, but few people are benefiting from it. Certain countries like
Canada have laws on generic medication. In that case, how can we explain that
such small quantities of these medications are exported to Africa?
The "Franchir les frontières" conference series aims to present a
world-renowned personality for the public at large, and more specifically for
alumni, and for friends and members of the university community.
