/R E P E A T -- The Journées dentaires internationales du Québec Celebrate 40 Years of Excellence/

MONTREAL, May 26, 2011 /CNW Telbec/ - The 2011 edition of the Journées dentaires internationales du Québec (JDIQ) will be held from May 27 to 31, at the Palais des congrès de Montréal. The JDIQ is celebrating 40 years of excellence this year. This annual continuing education event, organized by the Ordre des dentistes du Québec, brings together more than 11,000 participants. It is Canada's largest dental convention, and a popular yearly get-together for Quebec dentists and members of their dental teams.

"Since the JDIQ were founded four decades ago, they have constantly evolved and adapted to participants' needs," noted Dr. Diane Legault, President of the Ordre des dentistes du Québec, on the eve of the opening of the JDIQ. "I am pleased at the success of this event, as it is an eloquent illustration of the commitment on the part of the members of our profession to maintaining and developing their professional skills."

An extensive scientific program
The scientific program for the 2011 JDIQ includes more than 130 lectures and workshops, featuring some 150 speakers from Canada, the United States and Europe.

The exhibitors' booths are also worth a visit, with something for everyone in dentistry. You won't want to miss the National Bank booth, for a chance to get behind the wheel of an F1 simulator. The profits from this ride will go to the Fondation de l'Ordre des dentistes du Québec.

Hidden talents!
This year, the Order is holding a real first, giving dentists a chance to show off their artistic talents at the Convention. More than 30 works of art, from paintings to sculptures, photos and jewellery, created by 17 ODQ members will be exhibited in aisle 100 of the exhibitors' room. A pass is required to view these pieces.

The Order's website gets a facelift
The Order is taking the opportunity of its annual Convention to launch its all-new website, intended more than ever as THE reference when it comes to oral health in Quebec.

With a cleaner, more refined graphic look, the new website will allow visitors to find the information they are seeking, easily and quickly. Some sections have also been combined to simplify navigation and make the site more user friendly.

For the general public, the section on public protection is full of useful information on preventive care, oral treatments offered by dentists and the role of the Ordre des dentistes. You can visit the new site starting May 30, at www.odq.qc.ca.
