MONTREAL, July 1, 2015 /CNW Telbec/ - Hubert Sacy, Director General of Éduc'alcool, is one of the 17 Quebecers invested today into the Order of Canada. He is being recognized "for his leadership in the field of the prevention of alcohol abuse, in particular as Director General of Éduc'alcool."
"This great honour does not belong to me, but rather to Éduc'alcool of which I am only the representative. It must be shared with our members, our partners and our supporters," said Sacy. "If I shared this decoration with all those who made it possible, I would be left with only a very small piece of the ribbon."
This recognition crowns years of work by Éduc'alcool, including a recent major achievement: of all Canadians, Quebecers best know and follow low-risk drinking guidelines. In addition, according to the latest research, Quebec is the only province where fewer than 14% of drinkers (13.7%) exceed the recommended limits of alcohol consumption.
"It's wonderful that Canada is recognizing Quebecers as the country's champions of responsible drinking—and that moderation is always in good taste," said Sacy.
