/R E P E A T -- Media Advisory/Photo Op - SPACE Canada makes its debut at the Ontario Science Centre and unveils plans for the first International Symposium on Solar Energy from Space/



    TORONTO, April 23 /CNW/ - April is Environment Month at the Ontario
Science Centre. As part of its celebrations the Centre will host the Official
Launch of SPACE Canada www.spacecanada.org, a non-profit organization
dedicated to promoting international dialogue on solar energy from space as a
clean and safe alternative to the burning of fossil fuels. Solar energy from
space or space-based solar power, via geosynchronous solar power satellites,
will be transmitted to the earth where it will be converted into electrical
energy and distributed through the electrical grid.
    SPACE Canada along with the International Academy of Astronautics will
host the first International Symposium on Solar Energy from Space at the
Ontario Science Centre in September 2009.
    Next week's event will include the public release of the five-minute
video, "From the Sun to the Earth" directed and narrated by Bob McDonald who
will serve as MC of the International Symposium.
