    New exhibition and IMAX(R) film present the Golden Age of Islamic Science
    and a great explorer's epic journey
    

    TORONTO, Jan. 29 /CNW/ - As part of its 40th anniversary line-up, the
Ontario Science Centre is proud to present the exhibition Sultans of Science:
1000 Years of Knowledge Rediscovered and the spectacular IMAX(R) film Journey
to Mecca: In the Footsteps of Ibn Battuta.
    Sultans of Science: 1000 Years of Science Rediscovered is making its
Canadian debut, running from February 7 to May 10, 2009. This informative and
thought-provoking exhibition highlights important scientific and technological
advances made during the Golden Age of Islamic Science. The 700 m(2)
exhibition features ten exhibit areas including recreations of a feathered
flying machine, an optical lab, water clocks, an astrolabe and many other
inventions from the era.
    To complement the Sultans of Science exhibition, the Shoppers Drug
Mart(R) OMNIMAX(R) Theatre will feature the IMAX(R) documentary Journey to
Mecca: In the footsteps of Ibn Battuta, produced by SK films in association
with National Geographic. Narrated by Academy Award(R) winner Ben Kingsley and
running February 7 to May 10, 2009, the film retraces the steps of explorer
Ibn Battuta as he traveled from Tangier to Mecca to perform the Hajj
pilgrimage in 1325.
