TORONTO, May 24 /CNW/ - Ontario Nurses' Association (ONA) President Linda
Haslam-Stroud, RN and First Vice-President Vicki McKenna, RN will visit
registered nurses in Sarnia tomorrow.
The two will make a site visit to Bluewater Health Centre in the
afternoon and attend a Local 19 Nursing Week dinner.
"This has been a challenging year for all our front-line members, as
nurses have borne the brunt of many budget cuts in the Ontario health-care
system," says Haslam-Stroud. "It's a very challenging time to be an RN in
southwestern Ontario, but during Nursing Week, we want to spotlight the
valuable contributions that RNs make to the health-care system and the
patients who need the expertise of RNs on the front lines."
ONA is the union representing 54,000 registered nurses and allied health
professionals and more than 10,000 nursing students providing care in
hospitals, long-term care facilities, public health, the community, clinics
and industry. ONA is celebrating 35 years of nursing advocacy - a proud past,
a powerful future.
