    WHISTLER, B.C., June 5 /CNW Telbec/ - The Federation of Canadian
Municipalities (FCM) will recognize Canadian municipal expertise during the
FCM Awards Ceremony: Celebrating Excellence on June 6 at its 72nd Annual
Conference and Municipal Expo(TM) in Whistler, B.C., where municipalities and
individuals will be recognized for their involvement international municipal
cooperation and innovation in sustainable practices.
    The Honourable Beverley J. Oda and Jean Perrault, FCM President and Mayor
of Sherbrooke (Que.) will recognize the participation of Canadian volunteers
in municipal international cooperation. The Awards for Outstanding
International Volunteer Contribution will be presented by the minister and
president.
    The vice-chair of FCM's Green Municipal Fund, Chelsea Mayor Jean Perras
will introduce the FCM-CH2M HILL Sustainable Community Awards winners. CH2M
HILL's Sustainable Solutions Manager John Muller and Jean Perrault, FCM
President and Mayor of Sherbrooke (Que.) will present the award recipients
with their plaques.
    The Honourable James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official
Languages, representing the Minister of Natural Resources, Lisa Raitt, will
also address the audience to recognize the Government of Canada's partnership
with the Green Municipal Fund.

           5:30 - 7:30 p.m.

    WHO:   Minister Beverley J. Oda and President Jean Perrault to address
           during FCM Awards Ceremony: Celebrating Excellence and present
           international Awards.
           Honourable James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official
           Languages, Chelsea Mayor Jean Perras and CH2M Hills Sustainable
           Solutions Manager John Muller will address the audience during the
           FCM-CH2M Hill Sustainable Community Awards.

    Recipients of FCM's awards will be available following the ceremony.
Minister Oda will not be available for a media.
