TORONTO, May 13 /CNW/ - The LCBO and Waddington's Auctioneers are
inviting wine enthusiasts to bid over the Internet during the first
Vintages all-online Fine Wine & Spirits Auction taking place from May
23-28 at http://vintages.waddingtons.ca .
"This event represents the next evolution in our commercial auction
program," notes Barry O'Brien, LCBO Corporate Affairs Director and a
chief auction organizer. "Based on the success of our annual fall wine
auction, we thought we would try a spring online auction to provide
customers with a new exciting way to conveniently acquire rare wines."
The auction features many first-time offerings, including top Burgundy
vintages, rare single malts, highly-valued German and Alsatian wines
and top Bordeaux wines. There are also exceptional wines from Italy,
France's Loire Valley, California, Australia and Ontario. More than 220
lots of rare wines valued at $140,000 will be on offer. All wines
consigned to auction are stored in temperature and humidity-controlled
conditions at LCBO's warehouse in Toronto.
The Internet bidding is facilitated through Toronto auction house,
Waddington's. The bidding will start at 9:00 a.m. on May 23 and run
until bidding closes between 7:00 and 9:30 p.m. on May 28.
"We are pleased to work with LCBO to introduce this exciting o nline
auction," says Waddington's President Duncan Mclean. "Interest in wine
auctions has grown over the years and it makes sense to offer an
all-online auction in this high tech age."
Each lot up for auction can be viewed at http://vintages.waddingtons.ca where customers can also register for the sale. For customer
inquiries, contact John Yoxall at 1-416-864-6890 or by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
