Quebecor World closes it Magog plant

    MONTREAL, March 31 /CNW Telbec/ - The management of Quebecor World's
Magog plant announced the closure of its facilities to its 350 employees this
morning.
This announcement would appear to have been motivated by the economic
situation and strength of the Canadian dollar.
The closure is permanent, as explained by management.
The plant's employees are represented by Local Union 41M of the
Teamsters' Graphic Communications Conference.
"We knew that the situation was difficult but we never saw this morning's
announcement coming," explains Denis Fournier, secretary-treasurer of the
Teamsters Local Union. "Our members are in a state of shock."
Up until last summer, the Magog plant printed several TVA Publications
magazines, including the 7 Jours and Lundi.
"We aim at saving our members' 350 jobs and we'll try to meet with
management in the coming hours to see what can be done," concludes Fournier.
