TORONTO, Jan. 16 /CNW/ - This week, Québec drivers will get a first peek
at decades of below-the-radar engineering when Lexus of Canada unveils the
Lexus IS F - the car that was never meant to be - at the Montréal
International Auto Show.
"Montréal is one of the driver enthusiast capitals of North America, and
it's therefore the perfect Canadian city in which to unveil the
much-anticipated IS F - a remarkable design and radical new expression of the
Lexus vision," explained Yves Gionet, Director of Lexus in Canada. "The Lexus
IS F represents a new approach to engineering based on passion and emotion,
and an exciting new way of applying the Lexus expertise to vehicle design."
The Lexus IS F is an all-wheel-drive premium high performance sedan
featuring tremendous horsepower, racetrack-inspired handling, and enormous
stopping power. With a 5.0L V8 developing 416 HP at 6,600 rpm and 371
pound-feet of peak torque at 5,200 rpm coupled to the world's first
eight-speed Sport Direct-Shift transmission, the IS F delivers sleek
performance coupled to comfort and sophistication that stands out on its own
in a distinctly Lexus way.
In addition to the IS F, the Montréal International Auto Show also marks
the Canadian auto show debut of the all-new 2008 Lexus LX 570 full-size luxury
SUV, and the first auto show appearance for the rally-prepped Lexus GS 450h
performance luxury hybrid sedan that successfully competed in the 2,200 km
TARGA Newfoundland road rally in September, 2007.
The Montréal International Auto Show takes place January 18-27 at the
Palais des congrès de Montréal.
