MONTREAL, July 2 /CNW Telbec/ - BOMA Québec (Building Owners and Managers
Association) is proud to announce that the CDP Capital Center and the Complexe
Desjardins won for their category at the 2008 edition of the international
BOMA competition which took place in Denver (Colorado). This prestigious
competition, which rewards quality in commercial real-estate and honours
excellence in real-estate management, showcased 87 finalists in 14 different
categories. This year, 5 Quebec buildings were chosen on a national level
before making it to the international final.
Owned by the CITQ, the CDP Capital Center was named
Office-Building-of-the-Year in the 500 000 to 1 million square feet category,
while the Complexe Desjardins, owned by Desjardins Sécurité Financière
received the same honour in the Newly-Renovated-Building category. This
Office-Building-of-the-Year award is the most prestigious recognition
conferred by the North American real estate industry. It recognises the
commercial real-estate industry's most outstanding members who distinguish
themselves through their management, quality of operations, attention to
conservation and environmental conscience.
One must look back 20 years in order to find the one and only time a
Quebec building has received such honours: the Saint-Louis building, owned by
the Quebec government and managed by the Société Immobilière du Québec, at
that time, had received the international level award. According to Mme Sonia
Trudel, President of BOMA Quebec, the number of Quebec buildings having made
it to the final undoubtedly reveals that the many training activities
developed in the past years as well as initiatives such as Visez Vert have
enabled real-estate managers to be more proactive in their pursuit of
