Quark Launches Next Generation of Quark Publishing System at IfraExpo 2007

    Quark Publishing System 7 Sets a New Standard for Collaborative Workflow
Systems

    VIENNA, AUSTRIA, October 8 /CNW/ - Quark Inc. announced today the release
of Quark Publishing System(R) 7, the next generation collaborative workflow
system. QPS(R) 7 debuts to set a new standard in collaborative workflow
systems, leveraging 15 years of workgroup publishing experience. This release
introduces a host of new and enhanced features aimed at streamlining editorial
and creative workflow processes while improving production. QPS 7 has been
completely re-engineered using proven open standards such as a true Service
Oriented Architecture based on the Spring Framework Java(TM)/J2EE(TM), making
it one of the most advanced publishing systems available today for newspapers,
magazines and corporate publishers.

    "QPS 7 is an evolution not to say a revolution because it is what we have
anticipated for some time. We finally have the opportunity of integrating
Quark Publishing System 7 with the other existing systems via its open
architecture. For Groupe Express-Expansion, it is extremely beneficial from
both a technical and functional perspective," said Thierry Berard, IT Manager,
Groupe Express-Expansion (Paris, France).

    "The market is constantly evolving and technological advances, disbursed
workgroups and more communication choices have changed the paradigm in which
today's publishers operate," said Linda Chase, general manager, QPS, Quark
Inc. "We are pleased to introduce QPS 7 to address this shift with new
features that facilitate true collaborative teamwork, increase communication
and streamline overall production for cost-effective publishing."

    QPS 7 introduces new compelling features, including:

    -- A new open standards-based architecture that makes QPS 7 platform
independent, scalable, easy to use and fast to deploy, and supports an
unlimited number of publications and projects in one system;

    -- Server-side scripting that enables IT integrators and system
administrators to automate processes in their workflow;

    -- Real-time collaboration, which gives content and design contributors
the possibility to work simultaneously on publications and projects and
provide real-time updates;

    -- A multifunctional client that enables workgroup members to use their
preferred software applications on Mac or Windows operating systems and
collaborate with each other in a virtual workplace with enhanced remote
access;

    -- Support for QuarkXPress 7 and QuarkCopyDesk 7, which provides
designers the ability to provide writers and copy editors live updates of
design changes so they can easily edit and precisely copyfit text;

    -- QPS(R) Web Editor, which lets users write, edit and copyfit text
through the Internet and preview their work in progress as it appears in an
actual QuarkXPress(R) layout;

    -- Certification with HSQL and Microsoft SQL means QPS 7 supports
industry-standard databases;

    -- File Streaming ensures easy and secure access to content

    "QPS 7 is a great example of Quark's commitment to bring innovation to
the publishing industry," continued Chase. "QPS 7 delivers a new user
experience designed to increase efficiency, connectivity, management and
control -- combined with a 'state-of-the-art' architecture that enables a new
level of freedom to allow publishers the ability to work the way they want."
