QCGN to christen new community development website



    
    Commissioner of Official Languages to launch festivities including
    honouring the first winners of the new Goldbloom Award
    

    MONTREAL, Sept. 11 /CNW Telbec/ - At its Annual General Meeting in
Gatineau on Friday, September 11th, the QCGN will be launching a new community
development website. QUESCAN - the Quebec Community English-Speaking Community
Action Network - is designed to become an indispensable, internet-based tool
for community organizers, institutions and individuals in English-speaking
Quebec.
    
    Date: Friday, September 11th, 2009
    Time:  11 a.m.
    Where: Sheraton Four Points
    Gatineau, Quebec
    
    The website launch will be preceded by a virtual tour of this new
internet tool for QCGM members and stakeholders. The workshop begins at 9:00
a.m.
    QUESCAN's christening will be followed by the official launch of the
QCGN's annual convention during which the Commission of Official Languages,
Graham Fraser, will give a brief address. The launch will take place in the
Gatineau Room of the Maison du Citoyen, which is adjacent to the hotel and
convention center.
    The QCGN's convention will be crowned by a Community Celebration Evening
that will take place Saturday in the Pontiac Room of the Gatineau Convention
Center. The evening will include the awards ceremony to hand out the
first-ever Sheila and Victor Goldbloom Distinguished Community Service Awards.
Announced on September 1, the winners of the prestigious new award are lawyer
and long-time promoter of equality for Quebec`s English-speaking community
Casper Bloom, Eastern Townships-based healthcare advocate Marjorie Goodfellow,
and researcher Jack Jedwab, who has contributed immensely to our knowledge and
understanding of English-speaking Quebec.

    The Quebec Community Groups Network (www.qcgn.ca) is a not-for-profit
organization bringing together 32 English language community organizations
across Quebec for the purposes of supporting and assisting the development and
enhancing the vitality of the English-speaking minority communities throughout
the province.
