MONTREAL, Aug. 4 /CNW/ - VIA Rail Canada wishes to advise travellers that
due a washout that has occurred near Pointe a la Croix, (near Matapédia),
regular train service between Matapédia and Gaspé has been suspended.
VIA is making arrangements for buses to transport passengers via the
north shore between Matapédia and Campbellton in both directions. Regular
train service continues to be provided between Matapédia and Montréal.
Customers holding tickets for todays Chaleur train No. 617 departing
Gaspé at 3:05 p.m will be bused from Gaspé to Campbellton and then board the
train for the remainder of their trip to Montréal.
The next regularly scheduled departure of the Chaleur from Montréal to
Gaspé is Wednesday, August 6th.
