Improved Facilities for Customers Opens September 8
WINNIPEG, Sept. 2 /CNW/ - VIA Rail Canada wishes to advise travellers
that work on relocating its current facility at Brandon North to Rivers,
Manitoba is nearing completion. This new facility at Rivers will easily
accommodate customer needs for both Rivers and Brandon North. Starting
September 8, 2008, customers in Rivers will have a secure facility from which
to board or detrain VIA's western transcontinental Canadian.
Effective September 8, 2008, passengers connecting with the Canadian will
be able to board at Rivers station, which is located at the centre of the town
of Rivers on Highway 25. This station in Rivers is a short 15-minute drive
from Brandon North.
The Canadian operates three times per week in each direction. Westbound
to Edmonton and Vancouver the train serves the community of Rivers on
Wednesday, Friday and Sunday at 7:40 pm respectively. Eastbound to Winnipeg
and Toronto it stops on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday at 8:23 am. On
December 2, 2008 a new schedule will be introduced for the Canadian. The new
station times for Rivers will be announced at a later date.
