Montréal-Québec, Atlantic Canada and Montréal-Senneterre -
MONTREAL, June 29 /CNW/ - VIA Rail wishes to remind passengers that while
the closure of CN's Montréal-Toronto rail line as a result of a blockage at
Marysville, Ontario has forced the cancellation of VIA Services between
Toronto-Ottawa and Toronto-Montréal, all other VIA services are operating
normal for this holiday long weekend.
VIA is unfortunately unable to provide alternate transportation on the
routes affected by the rail closure.
VIA will offer a full refund for those passengers holding tickets on
trains affected by this disruption in service, and will waive any fees
involved for passengers who wish to change their travel plans and travel at a
VIA remains in close contact with the rail operator (CN) and local law
enforcement regarding the line closure. VIA anticipates returning to full
service on the above routes on Saturday, June 30th, and will make every effort
to accommodate additional passengers.
VIA sincerely regrets any inconvenience this disruption may cause to its
passengers. Call volume has been high at its call centers. Passengers are
encouraged to visit VIA's website viarail.ca which will be updated on a
regular basis. Customers holding tickets for these trains or wishing further
information may visit viarail.ca or call 888-VIA RAIL (842-7245).
