MONTREAL, June 1 /CNW Telbec/ - Pursuant to a one day seminar on security
in low-rent housing that was jointly held by TANDEM and the Office municipal
d'habitation de Montréal, a public awareness campaign will be launched on the
theme of friendly relations between neighbours. This campaign is geared to
OMHM housing residents and their neighbours and aims to promote harmonious
interaction between them.
A number of activities will be organised by TANDEM and OMHM from June 2
to June 8 around the theme of friendly relations between neighbours in OMHM
housing. These activities encompass community lunches and parties,
beautification projects and games focusing on security. This campaign is also
intended to support tenant committees and foster the setting up of groups of
people sharing the same interests or hobbies.
The campaign's objectives are to improve the sense of belonging of
residents towards their building, to foster communications between residents,
encourage their participation in community activities, reduce the number of
quarrels between neighbours and lessen intolerance towards cultural and other
types of differences. The theme of friendly relations between neighbours
promoted through the slogan Say hello to your neighbour ... and feel better!
incorporates all these objectives and strikes the right note.
Of course, the week of June 2 to June 8 is only the prelude to this
public awareness campaign which will be carried out over the whole year.
