Companies Assessed for Ability to Execute and Completeness of Vision

MENLO PARK, Calif., Aug. 12 /CNW/ -- Protiviti Inc., a leading global
provider of internal audit and risk and advisory services, has been positioned
by Gartner, Inc. in the "Challengers" quadrant in the "Magic Quadrant for
Enterprise Governance, Risk and Compliance Platforms"(1). The Protiviti
Governance Portal provides organizations with a software solution that
addresses multiple Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) objectives through
one unified technology platform.

According to its report, Gartner defines Challengers as follows:
"Challengers have proven viability, demonstrated market performance and the
ability to exceed customer expectations on technical functionality.
Challengers need to focus on their product road maps, as well as their sales,
marketing, geographic and vertical industry strategies to move into the
Leaders quadrant." Gartner evaluated Protiviti on ability to execute,
including product/service; overall viability; market responsiveness; and
customer experience, and on completeness of vision, which includes market
understanding, product strategy and innovation, among other measurements.
"We consider our positioning in the Challengers quadrant by Gartner to be
further validation of our Governance Portal and its success in the
marketplace," said Scott Gracyalny, managing director and leader of
Protiviti's Risk Technology Solutions group. "We're executing our product road
map and will offer additional enhancements that make the Governance Portal an
even more valuable tool to a wide range of organizations."
According to the Gartner report: "Reporting and managing through a
single platform gives executives, auditors and managers a holistic view of the
enterprise's risk and compliance postures, as well as views sorted by
requirement, entity and geography."
"The Governance Portal offers an integrated and strategic GRC platform
for a broad range of risk management efforts along with compliance activities
related to Sarbanes-Oxley, Basel II, privacy regulations and SAS 70, among
other regulations," said Gracyalny.

The Governance Portal consists of five modules:

-- Control Management -- A framework that supports control
documentation, analysis and testing.
-- Risk Management -- A framework for assessing inherent, tolerable and
residual risk across defined enterprise categories.
-- Incident Management -- A loss event collection system that supports
the capture of internal, external and "virtual" (e.g., scenario-based,
near-miss) operational losses.
-- Audit Management -- An internal audit planning and execution system
that supports enterprise risk assessment, planning, execution, documentation,
reporting and follow-up.
-- Assessment Management -- An integrated survey engine that supports a
sustainable self-assessment process across the GRC modules of the Governance
Portal.
These modules align to support six pillars of effective governance:
financial compliance, regulatory compliance, IT governance, operational risk,
internal audit and enterprise risk management. For additional information
