Press Release no 7 - By-election of September 21, 2009 - Electors of Rousseau Electoral Division May Take Advantage of the Special Revision and the Advance Poll

QUEBEC, Sept. 11 /CNW Telbec/ - The Chief Electoral Officer of Québec, Me
Marcel Blanchet, would like to remind electors who are interested that they
can take advantage of the special revision and the advance poll for the
by-election of September 21, 2009, in the Rousseau electoral division. The
special revision will take place from September 9 to 17, 2009, while the
advance poll will be held on September 13 and 14, 2009.

    THE SPECIAL REVISION

Electors who were unable to take advantage of the regular revision period
have one last opportunity, until September 17th, 2 p.m, to register on the
list of electors, make a correction to their entry or ask for their name to be
struck off. To do so, they must go to the returning officer's office situated
at 24, Montée Rémi-Henri, Saint-Roch-de-l'Achigan or at the special revision
office situated at 6294, Principale Street, Saint-Calixte. The special
revision office is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday to Friday, except on
September 17th, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday
and Sunday. To receive the address of the office to which they are assigned,
electors are invited to consult the notice that was recently mailed to them.
They may also consult the special section devoted to the by-election on the
Chief Electoral Officer's Web site (www.electionsquebec.qc.ca)
Any application for entry filed at the special revision office must be
accompanied by two identification documents, one of which must mention the
elector's name and date of birth while the other must mention his name and
domiciliary address. Furthermore, unlike the procedure that was used during
the regular revision period, the application must be filed by the elector in
person.
Finally, Me Blanchet would like to remind the persons who register on the
list of electors during the special revision period that they cannot exercise
their voting right on advance polling days, i.e., on September 13th and 14th ,
but only on election day on September 21st or at the office of the returning
officer as mentioned below.
Furthermore, it is important to note that, unlike the procedure that
prevails during federal elections, the Québec Election Act does not allow
electors to register on the list of electors on polling day. The deadline for
registering on the list of electors is thus September 17, 2009, 2 p.m.

    THE ADVANCE POLL

The advance poll in the Rousseau electoral division will be held on
Sunday, September 13th and on Monday, September 14th between 9:30 a.m. and 8
p.m.
Every elector who would like to vote in the advance poll must establish
his identity after providing his name and address to the deputy returning
officer by presenting one of the following documents: health insurance card,
driver's license, Canadian passport, certificate of Indian status or Canadian
forces ID.

    FIVE ADDITIONAL DAYS TO VOTE

If an elector is unable to vote on polling day or on the days of the
advance poll, he has five additional days to vote at the office of the
returning officer or at his secondary office
The dates and the hours for these additional days are:

      - September 11, 2009, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
      - September 12, 2009, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
      - September 15 and 16, 2009, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
      - September 17, 2009, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

To receive the address of the polling station to which they are assigned,
electors are invited to consult the notice that was recently mailed to them.
They may also consult the special section devoted to the by-election on the
Chief Electoral Officer's Web site (www.electionsquebec.qc.ca) or contact the
