    QUEBEC CITY, Aug. 19 /CNW Telbec/ - By virtue of a writ of the government
of Québec issued today, the Chief Electoral Officer, Me Marcel Blanchet, has
to hold election on Monday, September 21, 2009, in the electoral division of
Rousseau. Here are some key dates of the election period:

    
    - Issue of the writ :                August 21, 2009

    - Prohibition of electoral
      advertising :                      August 20 to 26, 2009

    - Filing of nomination papers :      August 21 to September 5, 2009

    - Revision of the list of
      electors :                         August 31 to September 8, 2009

    - Special revision :                 September 9 to 17, 2009

    - Advance poll :                     September 13 and 14, 2009

    - Voting at the office of the
      returning officer :                September 11, 12, 15, 16, 17, 2009

    - Polling day :                      September 21, 2009

    Electors can obtain complete information on the schedule of the electoral
period on the Web site of the Chief Electoral Officer at
www.electionsquebec.qc.ca or by contacting the Info Centre of the Chief
Electoral Officer. Media representatives may contact the media relations unit
at the following numbers 418 644-3320 or 1 888 870-3320.
    On the Website, all information will be assembled in a special section
devoted to by-elections under comprehensive, easily accessible captions. This
special section will be updated on a regular basis throughout the election
period.
    From the Web site, it will be possible to consult the election calendar
and the press releases, to know the names of the returning officer and the
address of his office and to obtain information on the electoral division such
as the number of electors and the electoral map.
    Other information will be added throughout the election period.
Furthermore, electors can obtain the list of candidates and locate the
revision office and polling station to which they are assigned by simply
entering the postal code and building number of their address of domicile in
the spaces provided.
    All the above information can also be obtained by contacting the Info
Centre of the Chief Electoral Officer from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to
Friday, and from noon to 5 p.m. on weekends. These extended hours will go into
effect starting today until the end of the election period. All requests for
documents may also be directed to the Info Centre.
