POWER-GEN Europe 2007: Future Markets for Renewables in Germany

BERLIN, Germany, June 22 /CNW/ - The renewable energies sector is
increasing in relevance and profitability for investors. This will be a major
topic at the upcoming POWER-GEN Europe 2007 running from June 26th-June 28th
in Madrid, Spain.
POWER-GEN Europe hosts over 10,000 industry specialists, executives, and
experts to discuss power generation, production, and distribution in Europe.
Nikolai Dobrott, Director of the Renewable Energies and Resources
division at Invest in Germany, will give a talk outlining the advantages of an
investment in Germany. His presentation, "Future markets for Renewables in
Germany," is on June 28th at 10:00am.
The numbers tell the story. Germany's renewable energies industry has
amassed total sales of EUR21.6 billion, investments of EUR8.7 billion, and
currently employs 214,000 people in Germany. Furthermore the trusted quality
of "Made in Germany" that is a catalyst for success in many other industries
extends to renewable energies. Export sales in renewable energies have
currently reached EUR4.6 billion.
Germany offers excellent conditions for renewable energies investments.
The Renewable Energies Act (EEG) promotes the production and purchasing of
renewable energies equipment, such as PV panels, by requiring a fixed price of
37.96 to 54.21 EURct/kWh over twenty years for energy derived from renewable
sources.
In addition, Germany presents the investor with other advantages. It has
some of the best scientists and engineers in the world. Many research
institutes and suppliers help investors easily establish close relationships
with important partners.
This know-how as well as investment incentives combined with moderate
wage costs make eastern Germany a popular location for renewable energies
investments. The region has become so well-known that it has been dubbed
"Solar valley."
Renewable energies companies in Germany are proving that being
ecologically responsible can also be profitable. Therefore many international
companies, such as Signet Solar, First Solar, Nanosolar, Vestas, and countless
others are investing in the German renewable energies market. They are taking
advantage not only of the political support in Germany, but also of the
country's location, educated work force, and the international respect that
products "Made in Germany" carry.

Invest in Germany is the official investment promotion agency of Germany.
Its mandate is to assist and advise international companies about investment
opportunities in Germany. Invest in Germany provides comprehensive support
from site selection to the implementation of investment decisions.
