Porter Airlines sees Chicago on horizon

Midway International Airport welcomes Toronto airline Nov. 12

TORONTO, Oct. 1 /CNW/ - Porter Airlines is preparing for arrival at
Chicago Midway International Airport from its Toronto City Centre Airport
(TCCA) base, with the first flights departing Nov. 12. Porter is the only
carrier offering service between these two convenient airports. The full
schedule includes six roundtrip flights every weekday, plus two Saturday and
three Sunday.
An initial schedule of three daily roundtrip flights per weekday and two
each on Saturday and Sunday will be in effect until Jan. 7. As of Jan. 8, the
full schedule of six daily weekday flights and added weekend service will be
implemented as Porter's eighth aircraft is put into service. Introductory
fares starting at $149 one-way, plus fees and taxes, are available for
booking.
"The unbeatable convenience of Toronto City Centre Airport combined with
Midway's location allows Porter to provide the only truly urban service
between two of North America's leading cities," said Robert Deluce, president
and CEO of Porter Airlines. "The facilities at Midway are exceptional and will
be a welcome new experience for Torontonians flying to Chicago.
"We are continuing to successfully add destinations, aircraft and
employees at a time when many airlines are limiting growth plans, cutting
routes and introducing new fees."
Porter is bringing to Chicago its reputation as a refined travel
experience, providing passengers with full service and value throughout the
entire trip.
"Porter Airlines service offers a great opportunity for Chicago travelers
to visit Toronto," said Richard L. Rodriguez, Chicago Aviation Commissioner.
"This new international service is a welcome addition to the numerous domestic
destinations offered at Midway."
From its dedicated TCCA terminal, all Porter passengers have access to a
modern, comfortable and stylish lounge, including wireless Internet access,
refreshments, and computer workstations. While on board, passengers enjoy
complimentary premium snacks, wine and beer, a spacious cabin environment with
leather upholstery and extra legroom.
TCCA is one of the most convenient urban airports in the world, situated
just minutes from downtown Toronto. Complimentary Porter shuttle buses offer
passengers a short transfer to Union Station, only steps from the financial
and entertainment districts. The airport is also accessible by public transit,
taxi, limousine or personal vehicle.
Midway International Airport is conveniently located and accessible to
downtown Chicago.
Porter flies the 70-seat Bombardier Q400 featuring jet-like cruise speed,
revolutionary cabin noise-reduction technology and environmentally-friendly
engines. The aircraft uses 30 to 40 per cent less fuel than regional and
narrow-body jets.
Expanded service to further U.S. destinations such as Boston, Washington
and Philadelphia is planned as additional aircraft are delivered over the next
18 months.
