Porter Airlines climbing to 17 daily Ottawa-Toronto flights

New Ottawa lounge offers passengers complimentary amenities

TORONTO, Aug. 26 /CNW/ - Porter Airlines is bolstering service on its
Ottawa-Toronto route, moving to as many as 17 daily roundtrip flights from 14,
beginning Oct. 5. This additional service will be complemented by the opening
of a dedicated Porter passenger lounge in Ottawa. The new lounge is the first
to be located outside of the airline's main hub at Toronto City Centre
Airport.
"Ottawa is an increasingly important destination for Porter," said Robert
Deluce, president and CEO of Porter Airlines. "The improved Toronto service,
plus recently-announced flights to Halifax and St. John's add up to 42 daily
arrivals and departures. Ottawa travellers will now benefit from the same
amenities that make the Toronto lounge very popular."

The new Ottawa schedule starting Oct. 5 includes the following flights:

    - Ottawa-Toronto - 17 daily roundtrips

    - Ottawa-Halifax - 4 daily roundtrips

    - Ottawa-St. John's - 4 daily roundtrips

"Ottawa has been a city of firsts with Porter; its first destination, and
now its first destination lounge," said Paul Benoit, Ottawa International
Airport Authority President and CEO. "I'm pleased that the Ottawa market has
responded so positively to Porter and that the airline is furthering its
commitment to the community by investing in a space that will enhance the
customer experience."
All passengers will have complimentary access to the airline's stylish,
modern and comfortable Ottawa lounge. Features and furnishings emulate the
existing Toronto lounge, including espresso in heated cups, cold beverages,
snacks, Wi-Fi access, computer workstations, a meeting room and business
centre.
Together with increased Montreal service, Porter is providing a
significant competitive alternative on the busy Eastern Triangle routes. This
growth is supported by six additional aircraft deliveries before the end of
2009, growing the fleet to 18. Porter exclusively operates Bombardier's
70-seat Q400 aircraft. The aircraft sets new standards for comfort and fuel
efficiency, using 30 to 40 per cent less fuel than comparable regional and
narrow-body jets. The Q400 features high cruising speed, revolutionary cabin
noise-reduction technology and environmentally-friendly engines.
