PodCamp Toronto 2008 This Weekend - Social Media Conference Packed With Great Sessions

    TORONTO, Feb. 19 /CNW/ - PodCamp Toronto 2008, a two-day conference
exploring the world of new media community tools, is taking place February
23-24, 2008 at the Rogers Communication Centre at Ryerson University in
Toronto.
"PodCamp Toronto will help to demystify social media," said co-organizer
Jay Moonah. "Whether you're brand new to this space or an expert in new
technology, you'll find something for you at PodCamp Toronto."
PodCamp Toronto 2008 will bring together professionals and hobbyists from
across North America. Over 330 people will converge on the conference to
explore the cutting edge of new media.
Key features of the event include:

    - PodCamp Toronto 2008 is an "unconference." Unconferences are events
where participants, rather than the organizers, create and manage the
       content of the sessions.
    - PodCamp Toronto 2008 is a free event. Costs are offset by the event's
       sponsors.
    - Anyone can register to deliver a session or volunteer to help by
signing up at PodCampToronto.org. Sessions can be on any aspect of
       social media.

With over 35 workshops scheduled, there's something for everyone. Some of
the scheduled sessions include:

    - Social Media and Networking Starter Guide

PodCamp co-founder <a href="http://chrisbrogan.com/">Chris Brogan</a> offers a fast tour of tools you can
use, then goes deep into strategy and implementation for your business
       or organization.

    - New media. Old ethics

Are bloggers journalists? Are podcasters news anchors? And should the
rules and ethics of journalism apply to them? Join journalist <a href="http://www.mathewingram.com/work/">Mathew</a>
       <a href="http://www.mathewingram.com/work/">Ingram</a> and former journalist <a href="http://com.motionblog.ca/">Keith McArthur</a> as they explore these
       tricky issues.

    - Introducing the Social Media Press Release

The rules for getting the word out have changed. Now the tools have
changed to keep up. What is a social media press release? What are the
benefits over the traditional press release? Spend some time with
       <a href="http://socialmediagroup.ca/">Social Media Group</a> Chief Strategist <a href="http://www.radicaltrust.ca/2008/01/21/digital-snippets-standardizing-the-social-media-press-release/">Collin Douma</a> and find out.

    - Zero to Podcasting

       A group of 'veteran' podcasters including <a href="http://www.markblevis.com/">Mark Blevis</a> & <a href="http://www.bobgoyetche.com/">Bob Goyetche</a>
are collaborating to deliver Zero to Podcasting - a two-day workshop
that will let you start from nothing and learn the skills necessary to
plan, prepare, produce, publish and promote your own podcasts.

"Social media is all about people," said co-organizer Dave Fleet.
"PodCamp Toronto will bring together over 300 professionals and enthusiasts
for the best social media experience in Canada."
