TORONTO, Jan. 21 /CNW/ - Platmin Limited (the "Platmin" or the "Company"
TSX/AIM: PPN) is pleased to announce that it has appointed Mr. Cobus Bronn as
Manager - Mining for the Platmin Group. Mr. Bronn will initially focus on
Platmin's development stage Pilanesberg PGM Project on the western limb of
South Africa's Bushveld Complex.
Mr. Bronn joins Platmin from Lafarge South Africa, where, for the past 15
years he has held various positions in engineering and operational management
at a number of underground and opencast mining operations. Most recently he
served as Performance Manager at South African mining operations of Lafarge, a
position he has held since 2004.
Platmin Chief Operating Officer Terry Holohan said today, "Cobus's
extensive operational expertise and experience particularly with open pit
mines, will stand us in good stead as we progress our flagship Pilanesberg
project, building up to production in the first quarter of calendar 2009. The
Pilanesberg feasibility study on the two open pit mines, Tuschenkomst and
Ruighoek, was completed in July 2007 and progress toward construction is now
firmly on track."
Mr Bronn holds a mining engineering degree from the University of
Pretoria and an MBA from Potchefstroom University.
Platmin is a TSX and AIM (PPN) listed PGM exploration and development
company focused on its four key advanced projects that host PGM Mineral
Resources and Reserves: Pilanesberg, M'Phatlele, Grootboom and Loskop of which
the Pilanesberg Project is currently in the development phase with the balance
expected to follow. All of Platmin's projects are located in the Bushveld
Complex of South Africa, which is estimated to contain approximately 90% of
global platinum Mineral Resources.
