RFP "marks significant milestone in our redevelopment project": HRRH
Board Chair Norm Naumoff
TORONTO, Jan. 8 /CNW/ - On Friday, January 4, 2008 Infrastructure Ontario
released the Planning, Design and Compliance (PDC) Consulting Services RFP
(Request for Proposal) for Humber River Regional Hospital's new acute care
The RFP invites companies to submit proposals to provide Planning,
Design, and Compliance consulting services. The successful bidder, made up of
architects, engineers and other specialty consultants relevant to the project,
will be an integral part of the HRRH project team and will remain in place
until the new hospital is officially opened for patient care.
The PDC team will work with Humber River and Infrastructure Ontario to
develop the preliminary design documents for the new facility, including block
schematics and design requirements. They will develop specifications for
building design and operation that the builder will have to adhere to,
ensuring the building meets all government-approved requirements. The PDC Team
will be responsible for monitoring construction progress by providing
coordination and oversight services during the commissioning, completion and
occupancy phases of the project.
"As the centerpiece of our redevelopment plans, our new home will be a
technologically-advanced acute care hospital," said HRRH Board Chair Norm
Naumoff, "with more beds, state-of-the-art diagnostics, more ER capacity and
modern infectious disease containment systems to protect our community. The
release of the PDC Consulting Services RFP is an important milestone in our
redevelopment project, and great news for our patients and our community."
HRRH President & CEO Dr. Rueben Devlin noted that "great work by many
people both in the hospital and from our community got us to this point. We're
excited by what lies ahead and look forward to talking to our community
throughout 2008 about the kind of hospital they want to see developed to meet
their future acute health care needs."
In August, 2007 the Ontario Government announced that approximately
30 acres of provincial lands located at Keele Street and Wilson Avenue in
Toronto would be the new home of Humber River Regional Hospital.
