TORONTO, Oct. 4 /CNW/ - Pink M&M's candies have returned to Canadian
retail shelves this year with a new look and lots more of the world's
favourite chocolate candy. The completely redesigned package now weighs in at
290g, 20 percent more than in previous years. M&M's is also doubling its per
bag contribution to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation this year, from 25
cents to 50 cents.
Since the introduction of Pink M&M's in 2005, the world's most popular
candy brand has contributed $300,000 to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.
This year alone, M&M's is hoping to match that contribution, and add another
$300,000 to the cause. This represents a combined contribution of $600,000,
with a goal of reaching $1 million by 2008.
"The M&M's brand is committed to a long-term partnership with the
Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation," says Christine Parent-Inch, M&M's Senior
Brand Manager for Canada. "Although the M&M's brand is the largest everyday
chocolate contributor to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, Pink M&M's
candies are also intended to be a simple consumer touch point to remind
Canadians about this very important cause."
For a limited time only and while supplies last, Pink M&M's candies will
be available in both the popular milk chocolate and peanut varieties. The
suggested retail price for the 290g package is $3.99.
"The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation is grateful for the support of
champions of the cause like Pink M&M's to help our vision of creating a future
without breast cancer," says Mark Hierlihy, Director of Development, Canadian
Breast Cancer Foundation, Central Office. "Mars Canada, with its Pink M&M's
candies, is a valued partner of the Foundation in support of a cause that is
so important to Canadians."
M&M's have consistently been a consumer favourite since they were first
introduced in 1941. In Canada, M&M's are produced and sold by Mars Canada
Inc., headquartered in Bolton, Ontario. Mars Inc. is one of the world's
largest confectionary manufacturers.
