MONTREAL, June 15 /CNW Telbec/ - John LeBoutillier, chairman of the
Conseil du patronat du Québec (CPQ), is pleased to announce the nomination of
Pierre Karl Péladeau (president and CEO, Quebecor), Réal Raymond (special
advisor, National Bank of Canada), Norman Steinberg (senior partner, Ogilvy
Renault) and Robert Tessier (chairman, Gaz Métro) to the board of directors of
the CPQ, Quebec's main employers' federation.
"The arrival of these heavyweights of the Quebec business community
confirms the new direction of our organization," said chairman John
LeBoutillier at the CPQ annual general meeting held last night in Montreal.
"While maintaining and strengthening our status as a federation of
sector-based employers' associations, we will make more room for member
companies and their leaders."
"The nomination of these new directors will increase our influence
throughout Quebec society and particularly with the various levels of
government," added CPQ president Michel Kelly-Gagnon.
The nomination of the new directors follows a modernization of the CPQ's
rules of governance, including a decrease in the number of board positions
from 30 to 19 members. In addition, directors are now elected for specific
terms, ensuring the partial and regular renewal of the decision-making body.
The Conseil du patronat du Québec is the main federation of employers in
Quebec. The organization includes many of the province's largest companies as
well as the vast majority of sector-based employers' associations. CPQ members
employ more than 70% of the province's work force.
