STE-SOPHIE, QC, April 28 /CNW Telbec/ - An incredible team effort
involving 50 people, an investment of nearly one million dollars, and the very
first online catalog of recycled auto parts have come to fruition, allowing
everyone to save an average of 50% compared to the cost of an original new
part, precisely for an original part. In this period of economic uncertainty,
this is a not-to-be-missed business opportunity and a Green purchase that
prevents waste. Lecavalier is a proud partner of RECYC-QUEBEC.
Lecavalier recycles over 12,000 vehicles that have suffered accidents,
obtained from major insurers and from auctions. These vehicles are
disassembled into parts for resale. Lecavalier has annual sales of $40
The project was highly complex from a technological standpoint, according
to Mr. Christian Ayotte, project leader at ICONGO. Each part at Lecavalier is
unique in terms of its kilometrage and its own specifications. Compared to a
normal IKEA store that handles some 9,500 different products, Lecavalier
manages ten times more, i.e. 102,000, as well as various warranty programs,
delivery routes and 3 different clienteles: B2B, B2C and B2I which is
restricted to insurers, who are the primary consumers of recycled body parts.
According to André Savard, the most complex part of the job was to create
a translation dictionary for our codes, so that users could understand them.
We sell recycled parts, and we want consumers to be informed when they buy
them. The company's slogan has always been "The real story, all the time" and
it will remain so. We also needed to be able to provide, via our catalog, the
best warranty in the industry and recommended installation service according
to Lecavalier standards. For body parts, adding a photo enables the buyer to
make the best choice in terms of colour and moulding.
Not only can the site be used to purchase all mechanical or body parts
online, but delivery and installation can be taken care of by a member of the
Lecavalier network of certified workshops.
Lecavalier, founded 67 years ago, is Canada's largest automobile
recycler. It has a staff of 175 people and three recycling centres:
Sainte-Sophie (in the Laurentians), Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu (in Montérégie),
St-Apollinaire (Québec) and a service centre located in Cumberland to serve
the Outaouais and Ontario.
Pièces automobiles Lecavalier is a founding member of the Association des
recycleurs de pièces d'automobiles et de camions ARPAC (association of
automobile and truck parts recyclers) (the only association recognized by the
Société de l'assurance automobile du Québec (Québec automobile insurance
corporation) and by Québec insurers). Lecavalier is also the only recycler
certified by the APA (Automobile Protection Association) and is an associate
member of the CAA.
