BURNABY, BC, Oct. 18 /CNW/ - Photon Control Inc. ("Photon") (TSX-V: PHO)
flow metering technology was presented at the North Sea Flow Measurement
Workshop this week in Oslo, Norway. The Workshop is the preeminent conference
on flow measurement for oil and gas industries worldwide, it has alternately
been held in the UK and Norway for the last 25 years.
A paper "Flare Metering with Optics-From Blue-Sky Technology to the Real
World" initiated by ConocoPhillips was delivered by Gordon Stobie, one of the
most prominent international flow metering specialists. The paper reviews
development, testing and deployment of the Photon Control optical flow meter.
The paper concluded:
"ConocoPhillips Canada is now in a position where there is trust in the
flare measurements, following close to 11 man-years of operation, and using
the axiom that you "cannot optimize what you have not measured", we are now in
a position to optimize and manage an area of the facility operations which
heretofore had been unmanageable."
The complete paper is available at Photon's website
The paper was well received by the participants, in particular, in
conjunction with the Phase-II of the European Union Emission Trading Scheme
which includes flare gas under regulatory requirements effective January 1,
