Aliant Father's Day Promotion Another Opportunity for Atlantic Canadians
HALIFAX, June 11 /CNW/ - Aliant has presented Kids Help Phone with a
$10,000 donation thanks to a remarkable response by customers to a recent
Mother's Day promotion. For every minute of long distance used on Mother's Day
under the Simply Your Way(TM) long distance plan, Aliant donated five cents to
Kids Help Phone resulting in the generous donation.
"We are very pleased with the results of the Mother's Day promotion,"
said Claudine Langan, Director Consumer Marketing, Aliant. "The response
exceeded our expectations and we couldn't be happier. Kids Help Phone provides
an incredibly important service to youth in Atlantic Canada; they are there to
listen when it feels like no one else is."
Support from the community and corporations such as Aliant helps ensure
that Kids Help Phone can continue to operate its bilingual, confidential and
anonymous, 24-hour phone and web counselling, information and referral
service. Contacts to Kids Help Phone have significantly increased in recent
years - in 2006 alone, Kids Help Phone helped kids in need more than 1.5
million times. Over 202,000 of these contacts were from Atlantic Canada.
"This donation will help us be there for kids 24 hours a day, seven days
a week," said Shelley Richardson, Regional Director of Kids Help Phone
Atlantic. "Thanks to the generosity of Atlantic Canadians we can continue to
provide the immediate help and hope that many kids need and deserve."
Based on Atlantic Canadians' response to the Mother's Day promotion,
Aliant will extend the same offer on Father's Day by donating five cents for
every minute of long distance calling under the Simply Your Way(TM) long
distance plan on Sunday, June 17th.
"We encourage all Atlantic Canadians with the Simply Your Way(TM) long
distance plan to make a call on Father's Day," said Langan. "The more you talk
the more we donate; ensuring Kids Help Phone is there when a child in Atlantic
Canada needs to talk."
"That is something worth talking about," added Richardson.
