PCA Boosts National Effort To Get LNG and Pipeline Projects Built

EDMONTON, Sept. 7, 2016 /CNW/ - A leading association of Canadian construction contractors is turning up the volume in the national effort to get some of Canada's largest and most important energy and infrastructure projects built. Today the Progressive Contractors Association of Canada (PCA) launched a new awareness campaign called "Let's build it."

"Canada's economy and global competitiveness depends on expanding and improving our energy and natural resources infrastructure," said Paul de Jong, President of the Progressive Contractors Association of Canada. "With so much at stake, it's in the best interests of Canadians to get building."

PCA and its member companies across Canada are working to move key projects through approvals to planning, including the following:

  • Enbridge Line3 Replacement Project to replace 1,660 kms of aging pipeline;
  • Trans Mountain Expansion Project to expand the existing (1953) pipeline route;
  • Trans Canada's Energy East Pipeline to transport crude oil from the west to east;
  • Pacific Northwest LNG, an $11 billion project waiting for federal approval.

"We've developed strong partnerships with like-mind organizations who share our goal of getting important infrastructure built, and built safely," added de Jong. "Canada has the expertise, technology and innovation to move forward in the most responsible way possible, so what are we waiting for?"

PCA is raising awareness about the importance of LNG and pipeline construction. It's also participating in Ministerial Panel Sessions, National Energy Board and Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency consultations.
